New Dimensions, New Possibilities: October Oracle EPM Highlights
At a Glance:
- Custom Dimensions in Financials – You can now add new dimensions incrementally in OEP_FS without rebuilding your application – perfect for evolving business needs.
- Smart View 25.200 Released – Packed with enhancements, fixes, and smoother workflows – ideal if you only update Smart View once a year.
- Forms & Dashboards 1.0 De-supported – October marks the end of legacy versions; all users must move to 2.0 for continued support and performance.
Ability to add new custom dimensions
You can now incrementally enable custom dimensions in Financials. The new dimensions are available only in the OEP_FS cube even if you have other modules enabled.
Oracle’s Business Benefit:
Customers often seek adding custom dimensions to support business growth post going live or after using Financials for some time. This feature enables this without having to rebuild the application.
GK’s View:
Great update, we recommend reviewing Financials planning applications to see if they would benefit from additional dimensions. It also means there is now no excuse for ‘Spare’ dimensions to be created in EPM applications.

New Version of Oracle Smart View for Office
Oracle Smart View for Office version 25.200 is now available.
The following new features are included:
- Enhancements to IPM Insights in Smart View
- Simplified Workflow for Setting User Variables When Opening a Form or Dashboard
- New Roles of Job Viewer and Job Manager in Job Console
- Control Preservation of Numeric Comments in Ad Hoc Grids
- Open Artifacts Using Web Launch in New Workbook
- Constants Added to HypGetOption / HypSetOption VBA Functions
Oracle’s Business Benefit:
This Smart View release includes the latest features, improvements, and defect fixes.
GK’s View:
We find that Oracle uses the second yearly Smart View update (25.200) to fix bugs and defects found after in the first yearly Smart View update (25.100). Therefore, we generally recommend deploying this update if you only update Smart View once per year.

Old Forms and Dashboards De-supported
Effective October 2025, all environments will default to the 2.0 setting for Forms and Dashboards with existing environments having the option to switch back to 1.0 with no support for 1.0. All new environments deployed effective October (25.10) will be deployed with Forms 2.0 and Dashboard 2.0 only; the option to switch to Forms 1.0 will no longer be available.
Customers are advised to change application settings from 1.0 to 2.0 and convert their dashboards from 1.0 to 2.0 as soon as possible. Gaps found in 2.0 should be reported using the Service Request process so that Oracle Support can evaluate if the request is justified and, if so, resolve them. Any issues found in 1.0 for either Forms or Dashboards will be resolved in 2.0 if it can be reproduced in 2.0. There will be no bug fixes or enhancements to Forms 1.0 or Dashboard 1.0.
Oracle’s Business Benefit:
This upgrade provides enhanced scalability, performance, and ongoing support, ensuring that your business runs on the most advanced and future-ready foundation.
GK’s View:
It is confusing to have two versions of forms and dashboards even though the old versions are better in some cases. Therefore, we support the change to remove the old versions and are available immediately to help Oracle customers manage this change.

Summary
October’s update focuses on flexibility, reliability, and future-readiness. From adding new custom dimensions without a rebuild, to deploying the Smart View 25.200 release for better stability, and completing the move to Forms and Dashboards 2.0, this update is all about streamlining your EPM environment. If you haven’t yet planned your 2.0 migration or Smart View rollout, now’s the time – these enhancements ensure your Oracle EPM setup is modern, scalable, and ready for what’s next.
