Smarter Predictions and Insights with Oracle EPM's Latest Update

At a Glance:
  • Generate insights and predictions for Dynamic Calc parent and leaf members

  • Improve prediction accuracy and efficiency by focusing on parent-level data

  • Reduce manual analysis by avoiding sparse or inconsistent leaf-level predictions

Generating Insights and Predictions for Dynamic Calc Members

You can now generate insights and predictions for Dynamic Calc parent and leaf members.

For example, predicting for overall Operating Expenses might be better than predicting each of the expense categories under Operating Expenses such as Travel, Entertainment, and Staff Welfare, because the child member data could be sparse.

Oracle’s Business Benefit: This enhancement allows you to view insights and predict values at the parent or any level in the hierarchy.

  • Rather than having to sort through too many leaf level-insights, you can focus your analysis on parent-level or any level insights.
  • Generating insights and predictions at the parent level improves accuracy, especially when data is missing or not accurate in lower levels of the hierarchy.
  • Prediction accuracy is improved, because rather than predicted data getting aggregated at the parent level, the parent level is also predicted

GK’s View: This is a necessary improvement as running predictions and generating insights at the lowest level required too many iterations to be run.

New Copy Pipeline Feature in Data Integration

A new Copy Pipeline feature is available that enables you to create a Pipeline identical to another Pipeline but with a different name. You can copy a Pipeline within the same environment or to a remote environment.

Business Benefit: You might use this feature when you want to copy a Pipeline definition in a test environment to a production environment or you want to copy a source Pipeline as a model for another Pipeline.

GK’s View: Pipelines are useful for automating processes and hence can become complex. Being able to copy a pipeline reduces risk when duplicating it.

New Data Push Support for Cross Application Data Maps

Data maps with member(s) mapping and data maps to a remote target environment are now supported as the data push, which were previously only supported as a Smart Push.

Business Benefit: The Cross Environment Application Data Map functionality enables data movement across multiple environments within the Cloud EPM, enabling customers to do more analysis on the planning data coming from different cubes.

GK’s View: Long promised, data can now be moved across cubes using EPM’s native and easy to use ‘Data Maps’ technology.

Summary

This month’s update brings a powerful shift in how you generate insights and predictions. By allowing you to focus on parent-level data, Oracle EPM helps eliminate the noise and improve accuracy – especially when data at lower levels is sparse. Whether you’re looking to streamline your predictions or make smarter, faster decisions, this enhancement is a game-changer. Ready to take your forecasting to the next level?
