SAP integration App is now live on Oracle’s marketplace

We have developed a slick way of integrating SAP with any Oracle EPM application including the ability to integrate with SAP S4 Hana public cloud. We have developed an easy process, using the Oracle tools that come with EPM, where our clients provide the SAP login details and we do the rest.

New Dimensions, New Possibilities: October Oracle EPM Highlights

At a Glance:
  • Enhanced Allocation Trace in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management for clearer, node-level data analysis.

  • Essbase upgraded to Version 21.7, delivering major performance, scalability, and automation improvements.

  • Advanced Predictions for Dynamic Calc members, enabling more accurate forecasting at any hierarchy level.

Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management

(aka EPM allocation engine)

Lots of improvements to the EPM allocation engine including Allocation Trace – the ability to trace data by focussing on specific nodes.

Oracle’s Business Benefit:

Isolating portions of the trace diagram helps you to understand the trace data and provides a wider range of analysis with the same base diagram.

GK’s View:

Oracle’s EPM allocation engine (Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management) is a user-friendly tool to create allocations and comes with enterprise grade auditability and integration. An automated allocation process can be implemented that extracts from an ERP system, runs the allocation engine to calculate the postings and then posts back into an ERP using enterprise journals.

Essbase upgrade to Version 21.7

Its finally here – in this monthly update, Oracle will upgrade all Cloud EPM environments to Essbase version 21.7.xx.

Oracle’s Business Benefit:

Upgrading to Essbase version 21.7.xx across the EPM Cloud fleet enables Oracle to provide the latest Essbase features and bug fixes to your environments.

GK’s View:

The current Essbase database version in EPM is 11.1.2.4 which was released 10 years ago in 2015. Essbase 21.7 offers significant improvements over 11.1.2.4, including enhanced performance through hybrid cube support, modern web-based administration, and better automation via REST APIs. We are looking forward to new EPM capabilities, better scalability and improved performance from this 10 year upgrade.

Generate Advanced Predictions for Dynamic Calc Members

You can now generate Advanced Predictions for Dynamic Calc members.

  • Generating predictions at the parent level improves accuracy, especially when data is missing or not accurate in lower levels of the hierarchy.
  • Prediction accuracy is improved, because rather than predicted data getting aggregated at the parent level, the parent level is also predicted. For example, predicting for overall Operating Expenses might be better than predicting each of the expense categories under Operating Expenses such as Travel, Entertainment, and Staff Welfare, because the child member data could be sparse.

Oracle’s Business Benefit:

This enhancement allows you to perform Advanced Predictions at any level in the hierarchy.

GK’s View:

IT is crazy that this wasn’t possible before. Being able to run predictions for Dynamic calc members is crucial because in a modern EPM design all parents are Dynamic Calc to save database size and ensure the data at the higher levels in each hierarchy is always live. We suggest anyone who has implemented advanced predictions before this update needs to revisit their design to utilise this new feature.

Summary

November’s Oracle EPM update focuses on performance, accuracy, and automation.
The enhanced EPM Allocation Engine improves traceability and transparency, the Essbase 21.7 upgrade modernises the platform with faster processing and better scalability, and the new Advanced Predictions for Dynamic Calc members enable more precise forecasting across hierarchies.
