Enhanced Security, Smarter UI, and a Cloud Console Shift

At a Glance:
  • Migration to Oracle Cloud Console – By March 31, 2025, all Cloud EPM security, user management, and service operations will move exclusively to the Oracle Cloud Console, offering enhanced features like SSO and multi-factor authentication.

  • Enhanced Security Requirements – All connections now require HTTPS (port 443), improving security for external web services.

  • UI & Metadata Enhancements – Increased visible cards on the Home page from 16 to 20, individual Reports cards, and new metadata validation checks in FCCS to prevent data integrity issues.

Migration to Oracle Cloud Console from My Services

By March 31, 2025, all security, user management, and cloud service management operations for Cloud EPM environments will be exclusively supported through the Oracle Cloud Console.

Oracle’s Business Benefit: Using the Oracle Cloud Console gives customers a single interface to create and manage all Oracle Cloud resources.

GK’s View: The Oracle Cloud Console has a lot of extra features than My Services including all the single sign-on and multi factor authentication options.

Secure HTTPS Protocol Required for Connections

New connections now require the secure HTTPS protocol (https://). Also, Connections to external Web services now require port number 443 if a port number is specified.

Oracle’s Business Benefit: Using a secure URL and the specified port (443) or no port at all for external Web services connections improves security.

GK’s View: All internet traffic should use the secure HTTPS protocol.

User Interface

Increased the number of top-level items (cards and clusters) from 16 visible items on the Home page to 20. Also, the Reports card tabs (Reports, Financial Reports, and Documents) now display as individual cards on the Home page.

Oracle’s Business Benefit: Increasing the visible cards limit on the Home page provides an optimal user experience.

GK’s View: Reports have replaced Financial Reports which will disappear. Don’t really need to see 20 clusters but useful to have in the capability in the background

FCCS – Metadata Validation for Account Dimension Members

Metadata Validation checks are applied against specific relationships within metadata in order to warn against situations that can cause data integrity issues, performance issues or other issues.

Oracle’s Business Benefit: The Metadata Validation process includes an error message that alerts you to create child members for certain types of seeded Account dimension members.

GK’s View: Metadata validation is a useful check that your FCCS design follows Oracle best practice in areas that are checked.

Summary

March’s Oracle EPM update brings key improvements in security, usability, and system management. The migration to Oracle Cloud Console streamlines user and service management, while the new HTTPS requirement strengthens security. UI updates enhance navigation with more visible cards, and FCCS metadata validation ensures compliance with Oracle best practices. These updates provide a more secure, efficient, and user-friendly experience for EPM users.
